ROSHAN & 2ND IN COMMAND, UNITED!, FOR THE PEOPLE OF SRI LANKA, JOIN US!
These Sad Times was written right after the crash of flight 587. "I felt an incredible sadness after the crash of flight 587, mainly because it happened not to soon after 911, it was like New York City was hit with two big bombs all at the same time". "I don't think I've ever felt as sad as I did on that day". - 2nd In Command. These Sad Times includes an original radio mix, and "4 dynamic remixes!". "These Sad Times" (Hip-Hop & Reggae Remix), "These Sad Times" (R&B Remix), "These Sad Times" (Roshan Remix), and the powerful bonus cut "What You Know About Sad Times". Roshan and 2nd In Command are currently seeking a distributor to help distribute the single "These Sad Times" to major record store chains. The duo also plans to shoot a touching "Music Video!" For the song as well, and are currently seeking a film maker to do the job. They would also appreciate the help from radio to play the single and ad it to their playlist, to let listeners and the world, know about this most exciting project that will help raise millions of dollars for so many victims in Sri Lanka that truly need it now.
We all know the power of Hip-Hop and R&B music, and the money and attention it can generate. Our mission is to bring attention and raise money for this cause, through the power of music. AN ICP PERSONAL NOTE:
"ICP like so many others, were deeply offended and appald, by the HOT 97 parody song to the tune of "We Are the World", which poked fun at the victims of the Tsunami tragedy that devastated Thailand, Sri Lanka, and other South East Asian countries. ICP was planning to present our relief song "These Sad Times" to the Hot 97 staion, as well as other radio stations to play and help advertise and promote the single to the public, to help support our relief project. But after hearing the news of the incensitive Tsunami parody which aired numerous times on the staion, we may have to rethink our innitial plan. The ICP family has been a big fan of HOT 97 for years, and we do not feel the incident was intentional on their part, if it is found that it was, then it makes the act even more terrible. We believe the ones who should be help responcible are the DJ's Miss Jones and Todd Lynn, for not chosing their humor wisely and as a result it has offended the entire world. I cannot believe it!, Here we are as a company, trying to doing something to ease the despair and suffering of the men, women and children of Sri Lanka, and you have two indivusuals who very well know the grave magnitude of this tragedy which has claimed hundreds and thousands of lives and instead of talikng the air to promote something positive, they choose to poke fun at Tsunami victims?. Where is the logic?, where is the reason?, where is the human compasion?, where is the sympathy?.
ICP also agrees that this incident had NOTHING to do with the 1st Amendment, and that freedom of speech is a right that protects people from GOVERNMENT attempts at censoring speech. We think the point of what hurt so many people around the world, is the mere lack of human compassion that was shown to a race of people who lost everything in a blink of an eye. Washed away in the Tsunami were mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, nieces, nephews and uncles, not to mention lively hood gone, lost and never to return again. We don't see how anyone could find comedy material from such and incident. It is a shame that the great image of HOT 97 is now tarnished due to the ignorance and irresponcibilty of others, who in our oppinion should have known better, to have chosen one of the worst tragedies in world history for comedy material. AMERICA IS NOT LAUGHING! And ICP agrees like so many others, that some heads should indeed roll for this blatent direspect of human compassion for the victims and the dead at the mighty hands of the December 26th 2004, TSUNAMI tragedy". - Richard D. Oliver
